This compact package also includes sounds from the M1 and the VOX organ, vintage tape-type string and flute machines, as well as other gorgeous sounds from keyboard history. Of course, these sounds can be played full-range like the originals that inspired them, either by using the onboard octave switch, or by connecting your choice of any MIDI-capable full-sized keyboard of choice. Each of these 128 programs are genuinely inspiring sounds, giving the MicroKorg XL+ plenty of variety to serve as your main keyboard or as a secondary keyboard in your rig. In addition, Korg has provided a total of 640 free sounds, downloadable through the free Editor software!
Program genre selector
The MicroKorg XL featured a sound selector that lets you choose your sound using two large dials: "music genre" and "instrument category." The new MicroKorg XL+ has been updated with a new set "music genres" to fit today's evolving music scene. Now you can select a program that matches your song more intuitively than ever. For even more convenience, you can also leave one of the dials fixed and use the other dial to make program changes during a song (music genre fixed), or use the dial to select vocoder variations (instrument category fixed).
New Yet Nostalgic - "New Vintage" Design
The MicroKorg XL+ projects a style that's reminiscent of vintage electric pianos, featuring a futuristic and simultaneously retro design with a stylish black panel and knobs. High-quality parts such as metal levers, dials that move with an audible click, and knobs with a sturdy operating feel are some of the ways that the MicroKorg XL+ outclasses other instruments in its range and enhances your experience editing synthesizer sounds.

Highlights: More Vintage Sounds than Ever Program genre selector New Yet Nostalgic - "New Vintage" Design |
The synthesizer's architecture uses two VCOs + multi-engine (VCO3), a 12 dB/octave filter, two envelopes, a VCA, and an LFO. The multi-engine is equipped with three sound generation devices including a noise generator, a variable phase modulation (VMP/FM) generator, and a user oscillator, which allows you to load your own oscillator programs including custom wavetables via a free editor/librarian. The two-pole, low-pass filter with enhanced sharpness adds drive with powerful distortion, as well as a key-track switch. Its sound covers almost every sonic possibility: fat basses, powerful leads, and the lush pads that you expect from a polyphonic synthesizer. |
It starts off with two highly shapable VCOs with plenty of modulation to implement, and you also get 100 presets to get those smooth parts going. Also, you will find an integrated tape-style delay, which will be of huge help when pulling off classic synth sounds. Minilogue stands out from its analog synths context because of its eight Voice Modes, which enable you to employ all four voices in interesting ways. Poly mode for four notes at once, Duo mode for cutting down the polyphony to two voices and then creating various unisons, and a lot more. Finally, you even get a 16-step sequencer, which will let you nail those parts and use the Minilogue for outstandingly creative performances. Besides, it is extremely easy to combine the onboard sequencer with other MIDI sync gear such as other Volca series modules. |
The synth offers two VCOs and a redesigned filter with a powerful low-end punch. A drive circuit has been added to apply aggressive overtones and distortion to the sound for huge bass sounds and sharp lead tones. The LFO rate can be adjusted into an unprecedentedly ultra-high-speed range to generate crazy space-shattering sounds, or it can be switched to one-shot mode to act as an additional envelope. The OLED display offers parameter information and features a real-time oscilloscope, providing eye-catching visual feedback on the sound being played. A 16-step sequencer not only records notes, but motion sequences of knob movements as well.
The Monologue has a set of factory tuning as well as 12 user slots for creating custom microtunings. Aphex Twin has come onboard as an advisor for the implementation and also to offer scales, sounds, and sequences as part of the factory presets. The enclosure is crafted from a curved aluminum panel, populated by chassis-mounted metal shaft pots with rubber-coated knobs, and a solid pyinkado-wood rear panel. Programming is a breeze with a single-knob-per-function architecture that satisfies seasoned synth professionals and beginner programmers. The Monologue ships with six AA batteries and can be powered by an optional 9 VDC power supply. |
If you are a fan of analog synths or are just starting out, Korg's Volca Keys packs an interface that you will find astonishingly flexible, all in an extremely affordable and portable box. To make sure the pitch as stable as possible, the 3-note synth has self-tuning analog oscillators and lets you combine those three voices into unison sounds or chords. Also, there is an integrated filter as well as a delay effect and an arpeggiator, and with all of those combine, only the sky is the limit, sound-wise. And no worries if you forget the patterns, since Volca Keys can save up to eight of them for you. Loop and Motion sequencers make your ideas easy to shape on the spot, and with its compact size and battery power, you can play anywhere, anytime. Volca Keys also integrates to your rig very well: MIDI I/O for control via MIDI sequencer, and Sync I/O so you can play in time with other Volcas or Korg's Monotribe and Monotron synths. |
Bi-Timbral, 8-Voice Analog Synthesizer |
The Volca Modular utilizes a single part for programming the eight modules in the engine including Source, Functions, Woggle, Split, Dual LPG, Utility, Space Out, and Sequence. The onboard step-sequencer allows the user to manually input up to 16 steps per pattern, but also can be used for real-time recording. The pattern chaining function can chain up to 16 sequences to construct patterns with up to 256 steps. Use the motion sequence function to record knob movements during real-time recording and reproduce them during playback. Additional features and functions include Randomize, which generates accidental ideas, while two added playback modes, Bounce and Stochastic, makes a round trip through the steps or gradually proceeds while randomly moving forward and backward. Also included are advanced musical scales, keys, and micro-tunings. Choose from 14 types of scales including equal temperament. Since you can also specify the tonic key from which these scales start, you can play these scales in any key. |
B-stock equipment could have been returned, used as demo or used during photoshoots, so it is visible that the packaging has been opened. Our B-stock gear usually is in ideal condition or only lightly used. B-stock equipment is sold with our 3 year warranty, just like new items. Much more than two oscillators and a filter In classic Korg fashion, the monologue starts with two oscillators and a handful of waveforms, plus waveshaping, Sync, and Ring Modulation capabilities. The built-in OLED oscilloscope shows you the results of your sound-shaping - very cool. The oscillators feed into a 2-pole filter designed specifically for the monologue, optimized for mono bass and leads. Three envelope types along with Attack and Decay controls provide a wide range of creative options, allowing you to create evocative pads and soundscapes in addition to rock-solid bass and lead sounds. Analog Drive circuit adds sonic intensity Distortion is a powerful sonic tool, and the monologue's built-in analog Drive circuit is the perfect thing for creating synth sounds that come alive. Add a bit of sizzle or full-on fuzz, it's your call. At moderate levels, the Drive circuit can add a definite sense of punch and impact without sounding overly distorted - try it on some percussion-type sounds and you'll see what we mean. Lots of options with this LFO The monologue's LFO section can achieve faster rates than the LFO in the Korg minilogue, and you can assign it to Pitch, Shape, or Filter Cutoff. The 1-shot LFO mode allows for creative envelope-like shaping. Two selectable LFO rate ranges allow for a vast range of modulation options. Fully programmable analog synthesis If there's one thing synthesists love, it's knob-per-function programmability, and the monologue delivers. And while it's easy enough to shape your sounds on the fly, monologue allows you to save up to 100 programs for instant recall. Micro Tuning and custom scales Korg's monologue allows for separate tuning per-note, opening up the colorful world of micro tuning. Use it to emulate subtle detuning to full dissonance. And beyond the factory scales, you can save up to 12 of your own custom scales. And when you're not experimenting with alternate tunings, monologue's self-tuning circuit maintains well-tempered tuning no matter how long you play it. Powerful 16-step sequencer with parameter locks Creating sequences on the monologue is intuitive, and you can transpose your sequence at any time simply by pressing a key - very cool for live performance. As you'd expect from Korg, the monologue also lets you record motion sequences to capture knob movements. And by popular demand, monologue's sequencer allows for per-step parameter locks, which means you can set parameter values on a per-step basis. Made to integrate easily with your band Thanks to its smart keybed layout, the Korg monologue is easy to fit into a band setting. The 25-key mini-keybed ranges from E to E, instead of the common C to C. This lines you up with traditionally-tuned guitars and bass guitars, making it easy to hit low bass notes in tune with your bandmates. Perfect for your Korg ecosystem The monologue offers Audio Sync to connect with Korg Volcas, electribes, the minilogue, and the SQ-1 sequencer. MIDI In/Out is present too, along with USB MIDI, making the monologue equally capable as a standalone synth, an element in your hardware synth rig, or as a MIDI controller for your DAW. Built to perform, with metal chassis and rugged knobs The curved aluminum chassis gives the monologue reassuring durability - once you get your hands on it you'll know it was made to perform. Even better, the knobs are mounted to the chassis instead of directly to the underlying circuit boards. You normally wouldn't expect to find these features on such an affordable synth, making it a serious value for any performing musician. |
